Passages

See my extended discussion of Benjamin's use of Passages as an extended metaphor for revolutionary writing in The Arcades Project in the convolute entitled "Structure."

Discuss the translation of The Arcades Project's title: Passagenwerk a title, that in German, emphasizes the threshold-like nature of the project and also plays on the term "passage" as in rites of passage or rituals that create the transition between states of existence. [SEE PASSAGE in GAMBLING chapter on ritual; see Baudrillard's seducer's strategy as the strategy of ritual as well as passages in the sense of excerpts taken from larger works.]

The Arcades Project Project is part of Heather Marcelle Crickenberger's doctoral dissertation entitled "The Structure of Awakening": Walter Benjamin and Progressive Scholarship in New Media which was defended and passed on June 27, 2007 at the University of South Carolina.
